On April 6 this year, we surpassed the peak of the first wave in terms of number of infected persons everyday, when the count of the Covid-19 infected people crossed 1 lakh mark. We crossed two lakhs marks on April 15 and 3 lakhs mark on April 21. For last 12 days the numbers of infected persons have been more than 3 lakhs per day. So it’s almost one month now the country is seeing number of infected people higher than the previous wave of 2020. Still where are our preparations?
We did hear and read about the government’s meetings and actions, strict warnings by various high courts, aids and supports by many many foreign countries, reopening of one closed controversial plant of a corporate house and many other things. But where are the actual results of all this announcements?
People are still sending SOS messages on social media, people are still running from one lead to other for the oxygen cylinders and refill, there are still desperate calls by patients’ family and friends for the hospital beds, embassies are relying on opposition parties for supply of oxygen and common citizen groups, NGOs, and CSOs are still struggling, in their limited capacities, to provide support to the needy people in terms oxygen, medicine, food, and last rites.
When exactly are we going to see the results on the ground?
